Of course it’s great hip-hop. It’s Q-Tip.
Just had some Tribe Called Quest going the other day. There was that brief period when “alternative” hip-hop really seemed to be breaking through back in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Then it got overtaken and now bubbles back up every now and then.
