While doing some research, it appears that the vine I planted on the side of the garage is a fast-growing, invasive species. Stupid me, I thought the local nursery wouldn’t sell invasive plants.

A flower I purchased at a nursery stated that I cannot plant it in the wild or let it spread in my yard.
I think most places just want your money. Ethics come last in monetary based economics.
And it attracts Japanese beetles. So are you going to keep it?
Ethan got it for me, so the immediate answer is yes? I can trim back. I also hope that it is attracting the beetles away from the veggie garden…?
Unless it’s 30 feet or more from the veggie garden, possibly not. At least, that’s the distance you’re supposed to put the pheromone traps from your garden (never mind that it’s not actually practical in most people’s yards). Any closer and your garden problems actually become worse. When I tried one about 20 feet from my raspberries, all I got was a beetle orgy. The distance with the pheromone traps might not apply, though, since your vine isn’t releasing the same pheromone. An owner of a garden center I talked to said that once you have the beetles there really isn’t much you can do — on a small scale you can kill them yourself, but it’s mostly a losing battle.
