Fredd-E Mercur-E

Ethan’s old CD player broke so we went out and got him a new one along with a new CD. Since then he’s been playing this song on repeat, and switching between whistling the melody and singing along with an appropriately wistful, rock-ballad-esque vibrato:

Next: black fingernail polish, bangin’ moustache, and glittery leotard.

Oh, God. You’re probably too young to remember Wayne’s World, too.

Sadly, I learned about Bohemian Rhapsody thanks to Wayne’s World. At least I did?

    zuzu beat me to it.

Well, has Ethan watched Wayne’s World yet? Ya at least go to show him the car sing-a-long scene.

In the 8th grade for an English project we changed the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody to reflect John Steinbeck’s novel, ‘The Pearl’.
Instead of Mama it was Juana. I think there was even a ‘Coyotito let me go’.

To top it all off we sang it in front of the whole class and I think there may even be a VHS of the performance floating around Klondike Middle School. Of course, it was all thanks to ‘Wayne’s World’.

We should all be so lucky to have kids like this. well, maybe not the moustache…

Ethan is clearly destined to be a serious gender-queer heartbreaker. It might be time to get him started on Bowie and Morrisey, assuming you haven’t already, of course.

It’s never too early to start worshipping at the alter of Freddie.

Next stop, the Commodores, “Brick House,” and Cameo!

Cameo! Yes! I hear the codpiece is the fifth member of the band…

What little kid doesn’t love Queen? My mom had me singing Fat Bottomed Girls long before Wayne’s World came out. Then again, she also had me learning old “bathhouse betty” routines…

Oh, Bowie started a long time ago. We heart David.
