And Because I’m Beyond Crazy

We adopted another rescue cat this weekend. His name is Fidelio, and he’s a black persian mix with a smooshed-in face and big golden eyes. He’s a little ratty from his time spent on the streets, but he’s a sweet one.

UPDATE: This one was taken with a camera phone, so it’s not great, but:

He’s all eyes. Big, pretty, golden, Gizmo eyes. We checked with the vet and he is indeed half-persian, half-Muppet.

That living coat must be coming along nicely!

He’s way cute. Because of the tilt of his head in this picture, I thought it might be another growling feral kitty video, though. (Bright light! Bright light!)
Fidelio… hm, that’s not after the hero in Beethoven’s only opera, is it?

I see why you had to adopt him. The first person to invent a way to pet kitties through the internet is going to be so obscenely rich it’ll make Bill Gates look like a street urchin.

Wilson didn’t love me, he just loved my sweaters, and my blankets, and my scarves, and my pillows, and… oh yeah, and he used to attack Ethan.

Besides, I offered to take the humper back multiple times and was given a flat no.

That’s because he hates you and doesn’t want to go back.

He actually came with this name. The woman at the humane society said she gave the animals names from whatever it was she was reading. I remember seeing a Lucretia, which made me wonder if the humane society worker was into Shakespeare or Lucretia Mott.

It’s important to have a cat name, because they respond so well to that and that only.

I get the muppet comparison, though. It looks like Fidelio should be guarding the Black Cauldron or something.

He’s actually in charge of guarding David Bowie’s codpiece. A noble assignment, indeed.
