The Salad Days

I’ve been going through all my author archives at Feministe remembering how much time I was able to devote to blogging, thinking, and writing when I was in college. Time is such an important commodity. So much good stuff there that I’m proud of in retrospect.

[By the way, a great article was published by Jaclyn Friedman about Feministe and online harrassment in this month's Bitch magazine, in addition to a mention in Utne. Bravo, ladies!]

Another feminist blogger is on the verge of getting a book published, and I’m thinking about that book I’ve been intending to write for years. If I had the time and funds I’d do it, too. Maybe I will anyway.

Feministe was the second blog I began reading many years ago. You and Flea got me hooked.

I’m glad you are proud of your efforts. I’ve learned a lot from you, been entertained by you, felt bad for you and admire you for being the awesome person you are. And I’m a middle aged guy. Imagine the kind of effect you’ve had on others, especially young women. You should be proud, you done good.

you should be proud - when i actually spent time reading blogs, the original Feministe was one of my favorites - the work you did there was eloquent, provocative, insightful & entertaining

if you end up doing a reading tour, let me know - my bookstore would be happy to host you

Ya know what I miss most about the OG Feministe? Those crazy quizzes… like the one that told you which David Hasselhoff you were.

Oh yea, and it had great writing and insight… which is why we all still read ya Lauren. :)

    Lauren,

Write the book, damnit. If you really want to write the thing, you can make time to do. All large projects can be broken down into smaller ones. Have you written an outline? Do you have a mindmap of the topics you want to cover? Start with these little steps to further break down the project into manageable chunks.

    No excuses.

I thought the Utne article was pretty good, since it linked to a diverse bunch of blogs (though not as many as one could have wanted). Haven’t read the Bitch article, so I can’t comment on that.

Oh, and I’ll join the chorus calling for you to write the book!
