What you should read since I’m not writing:
- China woman legal first over forced abortion case - “Mrs Jin’s crime was to have become pregnant by her fiance five months before she married him at the age of 20, the legal minimum.”
- Black and Brown, But Never Yellow - “We risk playing Oppression Olympics by arguing that African Americans and Latinos are more deserving than Asian Americans or Native Americans of a specially-focused presidential debate, when race and racism affects us all so profoundly.”
- Huckabee seeking South Carolina’s evangelical vote - Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!
- “Skinny” drink controversy - Apparently Starbucks has a new line of “skinny” drinks, and customers and baristas are really irritated by it. The fight in the comments section is funny.
- Lace Up Those Skates… - Porn is not sex education. Really, it’s not.
- Obsidian Wings: Gender and New Hampshire - Part I - “I’ve been reflecting tonight on why exactly I oppose Clinton in the primary. Frankly, I wanted to make sure I opposed her for the right reasons…”
- Lawyers, Guns and Money: High School Maternity Leave - “Most schools require women to return to classes the day after they are discharged from the hospital or risk accumulating unexcused absences.”
- Every President in History Has Played the Male Gender Card -
- DIY ethic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - For my own reference.
- La Llorona - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - “The tale also warns teenage girls not to be enticed by status, wealth, material goods, or by men making declarations of love or any promises too good to be true.”
- Joaquin Murrieta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - From Mexican and American folklore, the Robin Hood of El Dorado.
Did you happen to follow the link to the “Myths Over Miami” article at the bottom of the La Llorona page? It made the rounds a few years ago on the blogs, as well. It is amazing. Possibly even sublime, being simultaneously beautiful, and terrible, and a little overwhelming.
