Bittersweet

Auguste passed along this sad, bittersweet comic about a mother’s addiction to Animal Crossing. Maybe it’s my sour mood, but this little webcomic made me weep a little.

  • It sounds like that person really regretted making fun of mom but on the other hand I bet it was nice to find all those presents. I’d like to find something like that from my dad.

  • Oh, Animal Crossing.
I’ve seen that webcomic, and it reminded me of this article I read months ago, and my own experiences with the game. I haven’t played AC in a long time, in part because I used to play with one of my ex-girlfriends, and it’s weird to go through the game, now. And even if you move to a new town and delete the other player, the animals never forget! “Where is so-and-so?”

  • It’s funny what silly things remind us. My mother died seven years ago, and would have been 66 this month. Around Mother’s Day, Foster’s Beer runs radio spots with a bunch of Aussies singing, “No-one ever loves you like your mum/No-one ever loves you like your mum/Even when she whacks you on your bum/No-one ever loves you like your mum” It breaks me up every time.

  • Eh, I’m in a really good mood, and it just made me cry. And I’m not much of a crier.

  • OMG, that is so sad. Weeping sad. Not that I ever cry.
