Auguste passed along this sad, bittersweet comic about a mother’s addiction to Animal Crossing. Maybe it’s my sour mood, but this little webcomic made me weep a little.

It sounds like that person really regretted making fun of mom but on the other hand I bet it was nice to find all those presents. I’d like to find something like that from my dad.
Oh, Animal Crossing.
I’ve seen that webcomic, and it reminded me of this article I read months ago, and my own experiences with the game. I haven’t played AC in a long time, in part because I used to play with one of my ex-girlfriends, and it’s weird to go through the game, now. And even if you move to a new town and delete the other player, the animals never forget! “Where is so-and-so?”
It’s funny what silly things remind us. My mother died seven years ago, and would have been 66 this month. Around Mother’s Day, Foster’s Beer runs radio spots with a bunch of Aussies singing, “No-one ever loves you like your mum/No-one ever loves you like your mum/Even when she whacks you on your bum/No-one ever loves you like your mum” It breaks me up every time.
Eh, I’m in a really good mood, and it just made me cry. And I’m not much of a crier.
OMG, that is so sad. Weeping sad. Not that I ever cry.
