Stand Up, Stand Up

Ogged is right: Dave Chapelle is fucking funny.

In this clip from London he’s just shooting the shit with the audience. And although I’m jaded from seeing far too much live comedy, I found myself chuckling out loud several times. Dude looks like he’s having fun again.

There’s only one reason that I despise Dave Chapelle, and that is that 20-year-old white frat boys find him hilarious. Three solid summers of working in an amusement park and listening to drunken tools shrieking “I’m Rick James, bitch!” and it was apparently as funny the 80 billionth time as it was the first.

I guess that’s not actually Chapelle’s fault, but I still blame him.

    I second that.

Why are comedians funnier when they are starving? We were watching Eddy Murphy’s first couple of movies and he was funny.
Then we watched “The Nutty Professor” in which David Chapelle is a scrawny toothed foul mouthed comedian. He was funnier then than now.
Eddy Murphy is funny in a different way now that he is older. Anyone with psychobabble to explain this?

He seems out of his element, lost as to what jokes to invent as he hasn’t the fabric of American life and bigotry to work with. Very telling.

When it comes to comedy, especially when it is jokes relating to racism and prejudice, it is sad that most people are laughing at the fact that they believe in the stereotypical crap that is being said instead of taking the humor for what the comedian really means. Sadness…

Lauren, how is life going? My rat tail is gone, now you can’t braid it!
