I’m home, hopped up on hydrocodone, lacking four teeth, and I am still numb. I’m not very swollen, so no chipmunk cheeks pictures for the internets. Lots of bone from my lower jaw was removed in the process, and they’re a tad worried because I had an infection to start with. The chances of the infection getting worse are fairly good.
Plus, we discovered after a second look at the x-ray that the roots of my lower wisdom teeth were right on the nerve that brings feeling to my chin, so this weird numbness phenomenon I have going on is roughly in the shape of a goatee. I always wondered what having a goatee would feel like, and I imagine it’s exactly the opposite of this.
Somebody give me internet hugs. I feel like shit.

*hug*
oooh, lots and lots of hugs. Having been there recently myself, I feel you. I highly recommend a big ice pack (I have one that’s supposed to be used for your lower back) to keep the swelling down.
Also, take your next dose of painkillers before you start to feel sore again (provided that doesn’t make you overdose) and do not forget the antibiotics.
*more hugs*
Hope your hydrocodone haze treats you well.
*hug*
While you’re sitting around, feeling numb, here’s some stuff to watch:

Give me weed, whites and wine!
Big old dyke chin nod.
(Oh, okay, huggies.)

Here’s my new youtube video obsession

You poor baby! I actually read this entry aloud to the whole fam and everyone sort of subconsciously covered their jaws in a protective manner and collectively muttered things to the effect of that poor baby!
At least you have good drugs. Do keep us posted as to how things progress (I hope rapidly in the direction of healing). I hardly ever comment here but I’ve been reading you since something like 2003 (at least, it was when you were the sole blogger of Feministe) and, while I’m a total stranger, I’m worried about you. (If that’s not too presumptuous and maternal of me.)
Get well very very soon!
Hope you feel better soon.
*hugs*
Take care, take lots of drugs, etc.
Yay B. Dagger Lee–a woman after my own stoner’s heart!
Lauren, enjoy the vicodin, that’s all I can say. And as somebody who had chronic tooth problems (til I got them pulled) I sympathize.
Hey, I’ll trade you internet hugs for internet vicodins!
Dare to keep hugs on drugs!
*hugs* Hope you get to feeling better soon! And another vote for the vicodin here. Enjoy!
If only you had all been here to see her impression of Marlon Brando in “The Godfather”, there would be far fewer hugs, and perhaps a few boos and hisses. BTW, Ethan does an excellent chipmunk impression (if you ignore the stifled giggles).
Ooohh…ow…*hugs* That really sucks. Here’s to a quick recovery, and may the drugs work their magic as long as you need ‘em to!
Yowza. Hugs. And I’m glad it’s being dealt with.
Hope you have a speedy recovery. Stuff like this sucks.
*hugs* from Denmark
That sounds truly miserable! Hope the infection and pain subside rapidly!
Oh god, that sounds horrid. Hugs to you from an (im)perfect stranger. And hey, look on the bright side - you’re not vomiting! When I had my wisdom teeth out a year ago, both the pain meds and the antibiotics they put me on had me hurling for two days straight. Not fun when one has gaping holes in one’s gums.
Yeesh, craptown. Hugs from over here. May your recovery be swift and uneventful. Having tooth problems is the worst. Especially when your teeth have always been pretty good, so when you’re in your twenties and poor they’re just not a priority. And then, after about five years of that, they decide that they’re not so good anymore. They decide that they’re actually quite sensitive and persnickety now. Fuckers.
Get well soon Ms. Lauren.
That’s pretty much exactly what happened. I hate my teeth right now.
What about some yummy gazpacho, Lauren? Couldn’t Chef whip you up a batch of that? It’s more tasty than pudding and canned soup.
Yay for drugs!
*hugs*
And a guaranteed cheer up: behind the scenes at the Muppet Show!

Many hugs. And keep taking the drugs. Drugs make everything better. Maybe.
Wow. Ouch. Hug.
