By now you’re probably aware that Karl Rove, America’s favorite turd blossom, will resign effective August 31st. The big question is whether an indictment is to follow. While the White House cites a desire for “more time with family” as the reason for Rove’s departure, we’ve seen this administration boot people who’ve reached infamy for illegal activities in the name of the administration and have been implicated in national scandal. Rove has always been put at the center of this phenomena, in addition to many of the controversial political tactics used by the Bush administration, most notoriously in the CIA leak affair:
Rove, 56, who escaped indictment in the CIA leak case, has been under scrutiny by the new Democratic Congress for his role in the firings of U.S. attorneys and in a series of political briefings provided to various agencies across government. Citing executive privilege, he defied a subpoena and refused to show up for a congressional hearing just two weeks ago on the allegedly improper use by White House aides of Republican National Committee email accounts. Fellow Bush advisers have said they believe the congressional probes have been aimed in part at driving Rove out.

UPDATE: Take notes, Dems. Rove’s parting words:
In the interview with the Journal, Rove said he expects New York Senator Hillary Clinton to win the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination…and said Republicans have “a very good chance” of holding on to the presidency, according to the Journal. Rove also predicted that Bush’s approval rating would rise and that Democrats would bicker among themselves over the scope of wiretapping in an effort to combat terrorism.
I do think that many progressives are in dangerous territory by predicting the presidential race is going to be an easy win for the Democrats, and I’ll be damned if he isn’t right about the wire-tapping debate.

I am always worried about elections… no matter how well the last one went. I can soo see the Republican winning, because I see republicans win all the time here for no good reason.
I do love my neighbors and friends here in Indiana, but their die hard loyalty to the republican party sucks big time.
