I caught this one on TV yesterday and remembered how many prominent female rappers and soulsters there were in rotation in the 90’s.
The song is great, and considering how vapid music television is anymore, radical in its proclamations against racism and exploitation. This is a given, considering it’s on a soundtrack for a (kind of self-important and shallow) movie about the Black Panthers. But damn, Black All-Stars indeed.
