I don't support Bush's policies at all. I think he is the worst president in my lifetime. However, I feel compelled to defend to defend him here.
As someone who used to have a drinking problem, I enjoy drinking non-alcoholic "brews" regularly. They are a very good and refreshing substitute. To qualify as non- or low alcoholic, these brews contain less than .5% alcohol... many of them much less. I don't have access to chemical blood analysis statistics, but from my personal experience, I don't think a human adult could consume enough of this stuff at one time to catch any kind of a buzz.
In 15 years of drinking these beverages, they have not led me back to real beer drinking. Bush has been drinking these for years. There are lots of things to criticize about this guy's presidency, but drinking fake beer isn't one of them.

i hate to be on his side, but i've not had any beer in 20 years, except for these "non-alcoholic" near beers, and i have never had a problem, never gotten drunk or felt the need to get drunk while drinking one.

and to be even further on his side, the brand he is drinking, buckler, is one of the finest non-alcoholic beers in the world. i'd rather drink a buckler than any american made beer.

The guy is dangerous, the guy is dishonest, and the guy is a menace to world peace.

And he is drinking a non-alcohol beer, or a low-alcohol beer, whatever. I can't really support anything this clown does, but this is a non-starter. Maybe he has fallen off the wagon, maybe he hasn't - but drinking Buckler is no indication either way. Although I know a few people in recovery who avoid these fake beers, I also know a few who have one of these now and again to be social with people who are drinking the real stuff.

We don't have to dream up reasons to dislike and mistrust this buffoon. Let him have his fake beer.

Don't people, in general, have a problem with denial and dishonesty? With enough to drink, those magically go away. Strange, isn't it?

How can you be in Germany and NOT drink? Three cheers for the President! I'll buy the next round. Waiter! Take their orders...

I've seen the photo of the bottle. Even if it is a low-alcohol beer, recovering alcoholics know to stay away from those, because they contain alcohol.

God knows I've had my own issues with the stuff, but given that a huge element of the personal mythology of this twit is that he Got Off The Bottle And Found God, I'd say that it's relevant that he's drinking again AND that it's being covered up.

Not to mention, drunks have a bit of a problem with denial and dishonesty. Not that that's anything different for this Administration, but if he's in the throes of an active addiction, that's something that needs to be discussed.

We should be attacking his drinking because he's an unstable alcoholic. And he's full of shit about his sobriety. You can chalk up his inability to string together articulate statments to the bottle. The bottle is a tangible component in his befuddled policies and decisions. We need to face the fact that there's a drunk running the country.

bullshit? maybe... but mojoblog has <a href="http://www.motherjones.com/mojoblog/archives/2007/06/4618_george_w_bush_w.html" rel="nofollow">a picture of the beer bottle</a> in front of him.

And yea... there are many things to attack the President on. I am not sure that drinking a low-alcohol beer is one of those things.

I don't think we should be so down on his drinking alcohol. Is this the thing we should be getting him on / focusing on?

Let's look at what he does, what his politics are, what his religion is, what policy he's trying to push.... Fuck the Man if he wants to drink some; what's he, politically, morally, legally trying to push onto me/us?

Oh, bullshit. I know someone who saw him drunk in 1999, at a Yankees game. He was sitting in the governor's box and my friend was doing graphics, so she saw the footage whenever the cameras went up to the box.

according to mother jones, it was a "low alcohol beer" (i.e. less than .5%)
