Parenting in the 21st Century

Ethan has expressed distaste for being featured on Flickr and Youtube, so I’ve taken down his pictures and made them available only to family and friends. When I was a kid, the only fear was that mom would whip out the baby pictures in front of my crush du jour.

This ain’t no thang — he’s old enough to have an opinion on how his image is used, and I think it’s fair for me to respect his wishes by removing the pics. Keeping them up would only be about my ego. Plus, there are always safety issues.

The thing is that Ethan isn’t just a good-looking kid, his pictures always emanated that kind of happiness/innocence that makes you want to have kids (clearly you’re doing more than just providing good DNA). But it’s also cool that he’s expressing his opinion about his photos being online.

    Good for E.

I expect I’ll be hearing from Liam about my Flickr account at some point.

I’m just mad E. was on the YouTube and no one told me. But I like his style, love that he knows what he’s okay with and what he isn’t. You might just have the coolest little person ever, Lauren.

It’s great that he’s able to express his wishes. It shows he feels comfortable and that there’s trust in the relationship. That’s a testament to you and what a fantastic job you’re doing!
