First Sunburn of the Year

I meant to plant a tree today, but a kindly neighbor dropped by. I let Chef and my mother do it instead. I did plant some lavender.

UPDATE: SUNBURN. Working on a serious farmer’s tan.

    What kind of tree?

Since we moved into our house we’ve planted:

    Several casuarinas
    One bottlebrush
One lemon (minus one lemon that had to be chopped for an extension)
    One apricot (Moorpark)
One olive (lawd knows, but black)
    One feijoa
    One almond
One thing called a Melita, or Melissa, or something, which is a bit like a jacaranda

Wow, when I actually list them, them’s a shitload of trees.

They don’t contribute to the shadiness or the food supply much yet as they are still quite young.

I’ve still got room to plant one more - trying to decide between a nectarine and an apple.

This reminds me that instead of reading blogs, I should be out weeding and mulching around the lemon tree.

You might have read that we have the worst. drought. in history. in Australia at the moment, but all our baby trees have survived so far.

We (they) planted a green weeping Japanese maple. Dwarf, I think, and very pretty.

    Me too!

Now, what people won’t tell you until it’s too late: drinking lots of alcohol the day after a wicked sunburn will lead to very bad things. I was thinking, “Gosh, Zima never made me so hungover before . . .”

    Me: 0
