On this day my Bauhaus competed with my fabulous new neighbors, their crappy jock metal, the sounds of keg-induced revelry, a few motorcyclists, and did I mention the airport a skip or two away?
Delurking to say thanks a lot! Now I will be spending days playing around with Gimp...damn feminist weblogs with their inspirational powers. But seriously thanks, you've given me the push I needed to finally get some motivation and learn how to use an image editor thingy.

Yeah, Indiana really can be that beautiful. I miss them hills. Stupid prairie...

I love the office photograph. The one of the duckies kind of scares me, though. Like you and Lord Vigo, except without the whirl of ectoplasm.

My backyard has a picture of the Oakland Hills. But only because I rent :-(

Previous to that, my backyard was the Lafayette City Garage and then Second Street and then the railroad corridor.

You do have a beautiful lot, and whether you end up moving or not, I do hope you enjoy the virtue it has while you're there :)

The nesting dolls shot is great, too, BTW.

You're using Gimp! That puts you one step closer to Linux!

It is now my goal to make you a true cheap, comic book-reading, bespectacled, weakling nerd.

ok, I'm officially a little jealous. My garden is a 4 foot by 6 foot balcony six stories up. On the other hand, I'm 3 minutes from the El and an Amtrak station.

Your garden is fabulous, it must take a lot of work too keep it that way.

When you're done with GIMP, you should take a look at inkscape (www.inkscape.org). It's a free vector illustration program, and in my opinion a very good one. If you're using paths a lot, then it will probably be a good companion to GIMP.

Here are some more pics of the backyard for some perspective -- really long but shallow. Also note the yellow wire of death.

edit: I broke the link.
