Friday Random Thirteen - The “Well, You’ve Got to Have Goals” Edition

Well, you’ve got to have goals, even if you suck at meeting them. Thirteen instead of ten this time, just ’cause it’s Friday and I ain’t got shit to do.

1) Pere Ubu - Ubu Dance Party
2) The Welcome Wagon - There Is a Fountain Filled With Blood
3) Black Mountain - Set Us Free
4) The Quakes - Psychobilly Jeckyll and Mister Hyde
5) American Analog Set - Punk as Fuck
6) Killing Joke - Wardance
7) Mount Sims - Falling Up
8) Otis Redding - Pain in my Heart
9) Blue Scholars - Evening Chai
10) Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - God’s Hotel
11) Richard Hell and the Voidoids - Betrayal Takes Two
12) Edith Frost - Stars Fading
13) Beth Gibbons and Rustin’ Man - Tom the Model

And finally, because it’s been yet another exhausting week and my sense of humor not-so-secretly remains at the maturity level of a twelve-year-old’s:

The hand gesture in the third clip? Gets me every time.

My good lord: I’ve seen this show before. I was utterly captivated by it when I was channel-surfing several years ago, and always wondered what the name of it (it was the “God’s in you” episode).

One would think this could only stay funny for so long, but it gets funnier every time I watch it.

In Texas, we’ve have Robert Tilton for years and years. We’ve tried figuring out what the nonsense language is he uses when he speaks in tongues: it’s a combination of Spanglish, Cat Stevens lyrics, and the international language of looooooove.

Thirteen more, huh? 1. Metal by Gary Numan // 2. Total Mass Retain by Yes // 3. Microphone Fiend by Eric B and Rakim // 4. Human After All by Daft Punk // 5. Green Tambourine by Status Quo (cover of the Lemon Pipers’ original) // 6. Two Trains by Little Feat // 7. Be My Wife by David Bowie // 8. I Stay Away by Alice in Chains // 9. Scum by The Meat Puppets // 10. Anytime is the Right Time by Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup // 11. Cripple Creek by Leo Kottke // 12. Spanish Harlem by The Drifters // 13. In Christ There is No East or West by John Fahey.

Gold star for the worm report!

I’ve seen this guy before! He comes on the same channel as the Pink Cotton Candy headed lady with the really gaudy church.

Doesn’t he just LOOK like a swindler? Who’d send him money?

Oh, that was very funny. Almost as amusing as the sermon I heard today in church. You know, our time in the world is very short. In fact, Christians are merely pitching tents in this world until we go on to eternal life. We are all pitching tents. Jesus pitched a tent. Some Christian’s tents are bigger than others. Etc., etc. The metaphor lasted a good two minutes. Heeee…
