I think Doug-as-ringbearer would work better. At least you could be reasonably sure that he wouldn't be so enthusiastic about the process as to do what Zeke did. He balked at walking up the aisle, slipped his collar, and then trotted up to me mid-ceremony all leased with himself. Niece Allison, our flower child, who had been holding the other end of the leash, was so embarrassed and traumatized that her life spiraled into a morass that ended with her studying Art History at Duke.
