Also to forget about the pressure to have a platinum band - I think it would be so much nicer to have a titanium band and spend all the ring/band money on our honeymoon. He was very happy to find out the DeBeers marketing machine had not gotten to me. My married younger sister told me if my boyfriend really really really wants to get me a diamond that's his choice and I shouldn't try to steamroll him. I kept saying "but he doesn't want to get me a diamond!" I'm sure my mom, many of my friends and coworkers will think I'm being crazy but too bad. I'm can't wait to see Blood Diamond! So I went with pearls, then with breaking off the engagement and demoting us back from bethrothed to merely fornicating. I can’t wait until blood diamonds are on the public radar.
